Carmol Taylor - Did She Ask About Me?
This is a special post, not because this is a profoundly awesome performance, but because of where it came from. Goldwax Records was primarily known as a deep Southern Soul label, but they also dabbled in pop, country & western and even garage rock. I first heard the Country-Soul version Ivory Joe Hunter sang, I made a post about it on my soul blog last year. This really shows the interchangeability of a lot of Southern Soul and Country music. I personally like the IJH version but it’s cool to hear the same song from the same label in two different genres.
